Artworks from the estate of a deceased
physician who studied medicine in Geneva in the early 1960s. He lived on the
Continent for a decade, where he collected art. We are consigned to
sell the estate art for his heir.
Scotland Battle Scene
oil on canvas, 18 x 15 inches
lined, horizontal restoration upper right
Dated A.D. 11 (1911)
In period frame, outer size, 23 x 20 inches
This is a fine Scottish battle scene with soldiers in full
dress with kilts. The style is early 20th century Realism. The uniforms
are finely detailed. It is an action scene, where soldiers were killed, a sentry
stands guard, an artillery soldier on horseback points to the enemy, and the
infantry prepares to advance.
