Available Francis Luis Mora (1874-1940) Portrait of Sophia Brown Compton, the artist's future wife in 1897 charcoal on paper board: 20 x 12 inches oval sight size Signed and dated lower right condition: toning of board with age, minor age spots in background. in new archival mat and beaded wood frame, outer size 30 x 21.5 inches Sophia Compton was the artist's childhood sweetheart whom he married in 1900. This portrait was executed three years before their marriage. She is wearing a Victorian dress with mutton sleeves. The acid-based problems in the board were restored. The drawing is now in an archival mat and new period frame with beading and carvings.
